Louisville day one

We left Owensboro Ky about 8:30am. Very little wind and the river was almost at pool level so little current.

We always like the Rockport In 231 Bridge. From Owensboro to Rockport in.

Southern Indiana is home to many coal power plants, no less than 18 are within 30 miles from Evansville. In the 70s these power plants where the cause of acid rain in the northeast due to their Sulphur Dioxide emissions. Today all have scrubbers (the last one installed last year) but they are still the major source of pollution in the US.

They call this clean coal....Ya right.....

The only time they are clean is when they are turned off.

Corn Island ship yard builds Barges.

This is where they launch the barges and tankers.

Cannelton lock and Dam on the Ohio.

We made it through the first dam with no problem no wait.

Just a beautiful day!

Casino east of Louisville. Not much to look at from the water. No windows look out of the casino, they don't want you to sight see or know what time of day it is just gamble.

Big Tow boats work the river.

Double decker bridge into Louisville. This is the bridge that they had to shut down when they found cracks in the beams. It was in jeopardy of collapse.

My new chart plotter is great!
Hard to get lost

Almost to Louisville... This is New Albany In.

McAlpine Lock and Dam at Louisville Ky we have to lock UP!
Our timing was great they were already preparing the lock for the old Chris Craft from StLouis. We will lock through with them.

Up we go!
And we are set to go out.

Canal to the main river...railroad bridge is up
Louisville's beautiful skyline..
Yum center where the NCAA Champion Redbirds play! They are said to be the highest grossing college basketball team ( $$ big money).

Bike and walking bridge to Indiana ( was once a train bridge...

Rowing club and our destination marina!
